Restaurant Edition · Coming soon

What does that plate really cost?

ClearDesk IQ Restaurant Edition is in development for independent restaurants, cafes, bakeries and food trucks. It is not available to buy yet, and there is no release date yet.

$79.99 one time, at launch. Planned as one payment, with no monthly fees.

The calculators are free and run in your browser. They are not the Restaurant Edition. To be notified, email summitechconsulting@gmail.com with the subject "Restaurant Edition launch".

What will it not do?

Know the limits first, so you can tell right away whether it will fit your kitchen.

Windows PC only

Runs on a Windows 10 or 11 PC or laptop, such as the office computer. No Mac, phone or tablet app.

Works offline

Your records stay on your own computer. No account and no internet needed to use it.

No POS connection in the first release

It will not read sales from your point-of-sale system. You enter each day's sales totals yourself.

One location

Built for a single restaurant, cafe, bakery or food truck. Not for chains or multi-location groups.

The numbers that decide your month

Which numbers decide your month?

Costs keep moving. The Restaurant Edition is planned to keep these four numbers in front of you without a spreadsheet.

What does that plate cost?

Plate cost and food cost % for every menu item, from your own recipes and prices.

Is prime cost under control?

Food, drinks and labor against sales, so a bad week shows up while you can still fix it.

Did a vendor raise prices?

See the change and which recipes it hits, before it eats your margin.

Does the cash add up?

Each day's sales, tips, cash and card, with cash over or short.

What is planned?

What the Restaurant Edition is planned to include. Planned features can change before launch, and none of them are available yet.

Planned

Recipe and plate costing

Ingredients with unit conversions and trim or yield loss, sub-recipes, and the real cost of every plate.

Planned

Menu food cost %

Food cost % and margin for each menu item, with a suggested price for the food cost you are aiming for.

Planned

Vendor price tracking

A price history for each item you buy, with a flag when a price changes and the recipes it affects.

Planned

Inventory counts

Opening count, purchases and closing count to work out your actual food cost %. Par levels and a waste log.

Planned

Daily sales and cash log

Food, drinks, tax, tips, cash and card each day, with cash over or short.

Planned

Prime cost, week by week

Food, drinks and labor against sales on one screen, every week.

Planned

Staff hours and labor %

Hours with regular and overtime rates, and labor as a percent of sales.

Planned

Catering quotes and invoices

Quote catering and events, invoice them, and see who still owes you.

Planned

Vendor bills and backups

What you owe vendors, PDF reports, Excel export and one-click backups.

Planned to fit if you…

  • run one independent restaurant, cafe, bakery or food truck
  • do the numbers yourself, by hand or in a spreadsheet
  • have a Windows PC or laptop in the office
  • prefer one payment to a monthly bill

Not planned for the first release

  • reading sales from your point-of-sale system
  • a phone or tablet app, or inventory counts on a phone
  • staff scheduling that employees see on their phones
  • more than one location, or several managers at once
  • payroll, tax filing or online ordering
