Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about ClearDesk IQ. For step-by-step help, see the help center.

What kind of software is ClearDesk IQ?

Not accounting software: ClearDesk IQ is a complete business management system for small businesses. It runs quotes, jobs, invoices, expenses, employee hours, profit and cash planning. For tax returns, payroll filings and a full ledger, keep using your accountant or payroll service, and give them the accountant-ready CSV export.

How much does it cost?

$79.99 USD, paid once on the Microsoft Store. There are no monthly fees and no subscription. The Store shows the final price, including any tax, at checkout.

What do I need to run it?

A Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) or Windows 11 PC, 64-bit (x64). It does not run on Mac, phones, tablets or Windows on ARM.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No account is needed, and the app works offline. You need the internet to buy and download it from the Microsoft Store.

Where are my records stored?

On your own computer, in a records folder inside your Windows user folder. Uninstalling or reinstalling the app does not delete them. The Backup button saves one complete file, including job and expense photos, that you can keep on a USB drive or another folder.

Can my office computer and laptops share records?

Yes, on the same local network. One computer is the office host, and each trusted laptop joins with a pairing request. Laptops keep working offline and send their changes when they are back on the office network. Photos and receipts stay on the computer that added them.

Can I bring my customer list from another program?

Yes. Import a customer list or a price list from an Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file. Columns are matched for you, duplicates are recognized, and each import can be undone.

What can I export?

An Excel workbook of your records, accountant-ready CSV files (customers, invoices, payments and expenses), and PDFs of estimates, invoices, job reports and the Profit review.

Does it run payroll or file taxes?

No. It tracks employee hours and labor cost for each job. Use your payroll service for pay, deductions and filings, and your accountant for tax returns.

Does it email invoices for me?

ClearDesk IQ creates the PDF and you send it through your usual email. There is no automatic sending. You can print your own PayPal.me, Venmo, Square or Stripe payment link on invoices that have a balance.

Is it only for contractors?

The edition available today is built for contractors and trades. Any small business that works with quotes, jobs, invoices and staff hours can use it, with contractor wording on some screens. It does not include point-of-sale or inventory features.

Can I install it on another PC?

Your purchase belongs to the Microsoft account you used in the Microsoft Store. On the other PC, sign in to the Store with that account and install ClearDesk IQ. Records move with Backup and Restore, or by connecting the PCs as office and laptop.

How do I get help?

The app includes 141 searchable help articles that work offline. The same articles are in the online help center. For anything else, open ClearDesk IQ in the Microsoft Store and choose Publisher support, or write to summitechconsulting@gmail.com.
