The database cannot be read or fails its integrity check

Preserve the original files; use a known-good backup for controlled recovery.

Steps

  1. Stop making changes. If the program opens, run Check this workspace and save the troubleshooting report.
  2. Close the application before copying the application-data folder. Preserve its original files and the backups subfolders together.
  3. Do not delete company.sqlite, run a registry cleaner, or overwrite the only copy with a new empty database.
  4. Locate your latest external JSON backup or a suitable automatic recovery copy.
  5. Contact product support for a controlled recovery path. If a whole drive is failing, obtain computer or data-recovery assistance before attempting repeated writes.

Check that it worked

Recovery should restore a verified snapshot without destroying the original evidence or the only copy of your records.

Still stuck?

A reproducible product data-integrity defect belongs to product support. Hardware failure is a separate computer-repair issue; this help article does not diagnose the drive.
