Protected folder access blocked an export or backup

A confirmed Controlled folder access event may require approval for the exact trusted app location.

Steps

  1. Open Windows Security → Protection history. Confirm the event names the ClearDesk IQ app and the destination you were using.
  2. If you trust this verified installation, ask your administrator to review Virus & threat protection → Manage ransomware protection → Allow an app through Controlled folder access.
  3. Allow only the exact trusted executable if approved. A renamed or relocated app has a different path. Restart the app after the change and retry the save.
  4. Keep ransomware protection enabled. A malware detection is different and should follow the Defender guide instead.

Check that it worked

The intended export or backup saves to the selected folder, and the protection remains on.
