Tax on the estimate is missing or seems too low

Only checked estimate lines are taxable; discounts and floor adjustments are allocated proportionally.

Steps

  1. Check the Tax? box on each line that should be taxable for your business's treatment of that sale.
  2. Check the quote's tax percentage. A company default sets new inputs; it does not rewrite existing estimates.
  3. The program allocates the discount and minimum-profit adjustment across selling lines in proportion to their original values.
  4. With a $100 taxable line and a $100 nontaxable line, zero margin, a $20 discount and 10% tax, the price before tax is $180 and tax is $9.
  5. Review your tax treatment yourself or with your accountant. This tool calculates the values you enter; it does not decide which work is legally taxable.

Check that it worked

The preview's tax amount agrees with the taxable portion of the estimate after adjustments.
